There’s a reason summer on Lake Como is legendary. Long golden evenings, warm air rising from the water, the Alps turning pink at sunset — and the stars. From MamaGina’s terrace in Brunate, at 500 metres altitude with almost no light pollution, summer dinner becomes a celestial experience.
Why Brunate for a Summer Evening
While Como’s lakefront buzzes with crowds on summer nights, Brunate offers something rarer: space, silence and altitude. The temperature is 3–4 degrees cooler than the lake below — a natural air conditioning. The terrace at MamaGina faces west, catching the full arc of the sunset as it paints the lake and the surrounding mountains in gold and amber.
Our Summer Menu
Summer at MamaGina means lighter dishes that honour the season: vitello tonnato, carpaccio di pesce di lago, insalata caprese with local burrata, fresh pasta with zucchini flowers and saffron. Our wine list features crisp whites from the Italian lakes and rosés that pair perfectly with warm-weather dining.
The Funicular After Dark
In summer, the Como-Brunate funicular extends its hours — running until 22:30 on weekdays and midnight on Saturdays. This means you can enjoy a leisurely dinner on our terrace and still ride back down to Como under the stars. The 7-minute descent at night, with the city lights reflected in the lake below, is an experience in itself.
