How to Reach Us

MamaGina Brunate sits at the foot of the legendary Faro Voltiano lighthouse, 500 meters above Lake Como in the village of Brunate — the “Balcony of the Alps.” Getting here isn’t just a journey. It’s the beginning of your experience.

Daytime

The Classic Way Up

The most iconic way to reach us is the Como-Brunate Funicular — a charming 7-minute ride from Piazza De Gasperi on the Como lakefront. Running since 1894, the views as you climb are already worth the trip. Once in Brunate, MamaGina is up in the San Maurizio hamlet, about two hundred metres from the Volta Lighthouse.

Want a ride? We offer a complimentary transfer from the Brunate funicular station to MamaGina. Just let us know when you’re arriving and we’ll be waiting.

Other ways up: Local bus from Como, Jeep sightseeing tours (ask us for recommendations), or — for the adventurous — a beautiful walk up the old mule trail from Como — about 3 km with more than 500 metres of elevation gain, so allow around an hour and a half. You’ll earn every bite of your aperitivo.

Evening

Plan Your Dinner Above the Lake

The sunset from our terrace is the kind of thing people travel across continents for. The lake turns liquid gold. The mountains shift from blue to rose to deep violet. The lights of Como appear one by one, like stars falling into the water. And you’re sitting there, Negroni in hand, watching it all happen from the best seat in the house.

The funicular runs until late. Book your table and we’ll arrange a free transfer from the Brunate station — so you can ride up, take in the view, and arrive ready for the evening of your life.

“The funicular goes up in 7 minutes. The sunset lasts an hour. The memory lasts forever.”

By Car

Driving to Brunate

Drive from Como center (approx. 15 min via Via per Brunate). Public parking available in the village. During peak season spaces fill up fast — the funicular is often the easier and more scenic choice.
