What «I Luoghi del Cuore» is
It is the campaign through which FAI — Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano, Italy’s National Trust — asks people to nominate and vote for the Italian places that deserve attention: monuments, landscapes, churches, trails, historic buildings. The current one is the 13th edition.
The census is not a poll for its own sake: places that collect at least 3,000 votes can apply to a FAI call for funding and receive a financial contribution for a concrete project, agreed with FAI. That is why the number of votes genuinely matters.

Why it matters to us
MamaGina Brunate stands about two hundred metres from the Faro Voltiano: you step out of the restaurant and the monument is right there. It is not a landmark we name to fill a page — it is the landscape we work in every day.
The lighthouse is an octagonal tower 29 metres high, inaugurated on 8 September 1927 to a design by engineer Gabriele Giussani, built to celebrate Alessandro Volta a hundred years after his death. It stands at around 900 metres above sea level, on Monte Tre Croci. At night it sends out a beam of white, red and green light visible up to 40 kilometres away.
The outdoor terrace at the foot of the tower is freely accessible: turn on the spot and you see Lake Como, the city, the Lombard plain and the Alpine arc. It is one of the finest viewpoints on the lake, and it asks for no ticket.
