  • Other authentic Valtellina dishes

Pair it with the Volta Lighthouse

Free public landmark · about two hundred metres from the Volta Lighthouse

The Faro is public — anyone can walk up. That’s actually the point: it makes every experience around it better. A short passeggiata after lunch at La Polenteria. A view break between the gnocchi class and your table. A sunset stroll before aperitivo on the terrace. A few steps from the table, and the whole horizon as reward.

  • Free landmark, no booking needed
  • A short walk from both our restaurants
  • Perfect pairing with any other experience
  • Best at golden hour, just before aperitivo

FAQ

How long does the full experience take?
Anywhere from 1.5 hours (just lunch or just aperitivo) to 5+ hours (full afternoon: lunch + walk + cooking class + sunset). It’s entirely up to you — every experience works on its own.
Is it kid-friendly?
Yes — every experience is welcoming for children. MamaGina has plenty of room and a warm, family atmosphere; La Polenteria is relaxed and spacious. The cooking class with Gina is lovely for kids — hands in dough is universally fun. Volta Lighthouse is a short, easy walk.
Do I need a car?
No. The funicular from Como takes 7 minutes. If you book any experience, our complimentary shuttle picks you up at Brunate Funicular Station and brings you back. Driving up is also possible — free private parking.
How far in advance should I book?
For dinner or aperitivo on weekends, 2–3 days ahead is best. The cooking class with Gina can be reserved day-by-day, even the morning of.
What languages do you speak?
Italian and English. The cooking class is naturally hands-on — language follows the dough.
Is there really a view?
Yes — both from the MamaGina terrace and from Volta Lighthouse, you’ll see Lake Como with the mountains layered behind it. It’s a different perspective than the one from Como city below.
What if it rains?
La Polenteria and MamaGina are fully indoor. The terrace has covered sections. The walk to Volta Lighthouse is short — three minutes — and the lighthouse itself shelters the view. Rain rarely cancels the afternoon.
