How do I reach MamaGina Brunate?
The most scenic way is by the Como-Brunate funicular, a 7-minute ride from the centre of Como to the village of Brunate. From Brunate station, we offer a complimentary transfer to the restaurant. You can also reach us by car, local bus, the Jeep sightseeing service, or even on foot via the historic walking trail from Como.
Where exactly is the restaurant?
We are located in Brunate, the village on the balcony above Lake Como, at the foot of the Faro Voltiano (Volta Lighthouse). The address is Via Giacomo Scalini 70, 22034 Brunate (CO).
Is there parking available?
There is limited public parking in Brunate. We recommend taking the funicular for the best experience. If you drive, free street parking is available along the road leading to the Faro Voltiano.
Do you offer a transfer service?
Yes! We offer a complimentary transfer from Brunate funicular station to MamaGina, both during the day and in the evening. Just let us know when you book your table.
Reservations
Do I need a reservation?
We strongly recommend booking in advance, especially for dinner and weekends. Terrace tables are particularly popular during sunset hours. You can reserve through our Contact page or by calling +39 031 364099.
Can I request a specific table?
Absolutely. When booking, let us know if you prefer the panoramic terrace, the indoor bistro room, or a specific spot. We do our best to accommodate every request.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We welcome walk-ins when space allows, but availability is not guaranteed, especially during peak hours and in summer. Booking ahead ensures you get the best experience.
Dining
What kind of cuisine do you serve?
We serve Italian soul food: traditional recipes with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Our menu features homemade pasta, polenta, burrata, seasonal salads, and classic Italian dishes, all with a warm, family-style approach.
Do you cater to dietary restrictions?
Yes. We accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free diets. Please inform us when booking so our kitchen can prepare something special for you. Allergen information is available on request.
What are your opening hours?
Breakfast: 8:00 – 10:00 | Aperitivo: 10:00 – 12:00 | Lunch & Dinner: 12:00 – 22:00. Open until 23:00 (kitchen closes at 22:00). Hours may vary seasonally. Check our Contact page for current times.
Is the terrace open all year?
The terrace is open from spring through autumn, weather permitting. During cooler months, our indoor bistro room offers the same stunning lake views through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Can I celebrate a special occasion at MamaGina?

Do you host private events or corporate dinners?
Yes. Our spaces can accommodate private dinners, team events, and corporate gatherings for up to 35 guests indoors or 25 on the terrace. Contact us at info@mamaginabrunate.it for details.
Payments and Policies
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), as well as cash. Contactless payment is available.
Is there a dress code?
There is no formal dress code. We suggest smart casual for dinner. Come as you are for breakfast and lunch.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely. MamaGina is a family-friendly restaurant. We have options for younger guests and high chairs available on request.
Distances and Transfers
How far is MamaGina from the Brunate funicular station?
1.3 kilometres uphill from the funicular’s upper station. That is why we run a complimentary transfer from the station to the restaurant, during the day and in the evening: just ask when you book. During the day you can also take ASF bus line N9 to the «Faro Voltiano (San Maurizio)» stop.
The Volta Lighthouse and 2027
Why is 2027 a special year in Brunate?
5 March 2027 marks two hundred years since Alessandro Volta died, in 1827. The same year the Volta Lighthouse turns one hundred: it was inaugurated on 8 September 1927, for the centenary of his death. Italy’s national programme is called 200VOLTeVOLTA.
